Math

  • Singapore Primary Mathematics Standards Edition 3A/B - Over the past twenty years, the Primary Mathematics series has been identified with excellence and achievement in Singapore's primary school mathematics curriculum, culminating in Singapore students' success in the 1995, 1999, and 2003 TIMSS studies. The Standards Edition is an adaptation of this series to meet the Mathematics Contents Standards for California Public Schools. (Scope and Sequence)


Language Arts

  • Michael Clay Thompson's Language Arts Curriculum - The grammar portion introduces parts of speech, parts of sentences, phrases, and clauses, and utilizes a four-level analysis technique to work through 100 sentences spread out over the school year. Vocabulary study introduces Latin stems as the basis for much of the English and Spanish languages. Writing is devoted to mastering sentence composition. Poetry topics covered will include sound in language, rhyme, alliteration, meter, stanza, and poetic techniques including simile and metaphor.

  • Writing With Ease Level 3 - WWE provides dictation assignments, comprehension questions and reading passages from works such as The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, Anne of Green Gables, The Black Stallion, and The Jungle Book. (Sample)

  • Sentence Composing for Elementary School - Using sentences from more than one hundred popular stories and novels as models, Sentence Composing for Elementary School offers extensive practice in four sentence-manipulating techniques: sentence unscrambling, sentence imitating, sentence combining, and sentence expanding.   • All About Spelling Level 4 - AAS is a mastery-based, multisensory program that combines the use of letter tiles, flash cards, word banks, spelling lists, and dictation exercises to introduce phonograms, suffixes, contractions, and other spelling rules. (Sample)



History

  • History Odyssey: Early Modern (Level 1) - This series presents history chronologically and includes reading and writing assignments, map work, and numerous hands-on activities. This year's focus of study is on the Early Modern time period, ranging from 1600 to 1850. (Sample)


Science


Foreign Language

  • Getting Started with Spanish - Gentle and gradual introduction to Spanish, with free pronunciation recordings and author commentary available at the Getting Started With Spanish website. (link)


Logic

  • Logic Countdown - Presents exercises in logical reasoning, including relationships, analogies, syllogisms, sequences, deductive reasoning, inference, truth-values, and logical notation.


Art and Music

  • Artistic Pursuits, Early Elementary K-3, Book 2 - Using colorful illustrations and works by Master artists like Giotto, Michelangelo, Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Turner, this book tells the stories of individual artists within major periods of art from 13th century late Gothic to the academy artists of the 18th century. Projects encouraging creativity include watercolor painting, oil pastels, printmaking, and mixed media.
  • Hoffman Academy -Well-rounded online video-based piano lessons, emphasizing ear training, sight-reading, rhythm, technique, music theory, solfège, and improvisation.
  • Classics for Kids - Free weekly radio shows bring classical music's greatest composers to life through music and stories.
